When you're in Internet marketing, there are plenty of ways to drive traffic to your website. Some of them are good; some not so hot. But one way that many Internet marketing people overlook is one that is not only powerful, but you can approach it with a two-pronged attack. What am I talking about? Ezine advertising.
Paid advertising is the first thing Internet marketing people think about when they hear "ezine," and that's a very good way to get traffic and make sales. Because ezines are usually very niche specific, when you find one in your niche, it's probably going to convert. But you need to write a great headline. That's what brings people into your ads, or in the case of weak headlines, what will get them overlooked. So, write 10 headlines, and from those pick the best of the bunch. Polish and tweak it until it really snaps people wake. Headlines are just as important in ezine advertising as they are in any other form of Internet marketing advertising. You need to pull people into your ad.
When you write the body of your ad, do something Jimmy D. Brown always recommends … Give them incomplete information. You only have to write about 2 -3 sentences, but of course, follow the ezine's editorial guidelines. Just make people wonder about your sales page. Make them go to it to learn about and potentially buy what you have to sell.
When choosing potential ezines to advertise in, be sure to check them out first and see if they're right for your ad. Where are they placed? The closer to the top of the page and the left-hand side, the better because that's where people generally look first. Above the fold (what you see when you arrive at a site or open an email) is also prime advertising real estate. Just be sure your ads will not show up at the very bottom of the page, be mashed in with a bunch of other ads, or show up in the lower right-hand corner. Your chances of even being seen there are not good.
But that's only one way to advertise in an ezine. Write an article and submit it to the ezine editor. That's free advertising! Ezines are always scouring the web for quality, free content in their niche, and if you can provide it, you'll be able to submit to that ezine all the time. Just be sure to provide the quality info that they're looking for. You do not have to be a grammar genius, just be sure to use the spell checker and then go over the article again before submitting. Spell checkers just do not pick up all mistakes, and presenting an article properly is the best way to have it accepted.
Paid advertising and article marketing are two great ways to get Internet marketing bang for your buck. Writing an article in an ezine and advertising at the same time is the best way to go about this because readers will already see you as an expert after reading your content. Just be sure that as with any other Internet marketing strategy that you test and track and find ezines that are right for your business.
