How should you get started with internet marketing? There’s a multitude of different answers for this question and I will endeavor to cover all of them here. I will also try to explain the reasons why there’s so much conflicting advice being given and why there’s so many different answers to this simple question.
Here are the 4 most common pieces of advice/answers people are given when they ask “How do I get started with Internet Marketing”?
#1 – Take action, any action to get going with things and to gain some experience.
This piece of advice is geared towards people who are experiencing information overload. Maybe you feel that you’re so bogged down with information that you find it hard to actually implement something because learning is a lot easier?
Then take some action to stop the learning cycle and to start the production cycle! However, this could actually be bad advice because not all action is created equal, and taking just “any old action” for the sake of action may not do you any good. How could taking action not do any good?
#2 – Do niche market research before you do anything else.
On the outside, this again looks like good advice because if you did step 1 above (Take Action) without doing niche research then whatever action you did take may never, ever turn out profitable for you due to the nature of the niche you selected and entered.
The inherent danger to making niche research the very first step to getting started with internet marketing is that many people will rely too heavily on research tools. Most keyword research tools have outdated and unreliable information and using common sense can tell you what niches are good to get into.
#3 – Learn copywriting first
This is another fantastic piece of advice because if you know how the marketing mindset works, then you know the top-level information needed to make sale sin any niche market with any product. Also, copywriting for others can be a pretty good job, but it also requires a lifetime of learning. Learning copywriting before doing niche market research and “taking action” is a rather long-term approach, but most people end up learning this last, after they’ve gone through taking action, doing niche research, and generating traffic.
#4 – Learn how to generate traffic
Again, another good piece of advice most likely given by an SEO expert or someone selling a traffic generation ebook. If you master driving traffic to a site, you will never starve. Of course, this all can be a moot point if you’re driving traffic to a website that doesn’t convert well (Step 3, learn copywriting) or if you’re driving niche traffic to a site but they’re just not buying anything (Step 2, niche market research). And of course, none of these things matter if you don’t take action, right?
These are just some of the things you need to get clear about If you want to start an internet business
